The Double Island Point lighthouse required corrosion repairs to the sheet plate wall panelling; structural repairs to the lantern room concrete balcony; supply and installation of a cathodic protections system.
As part of the works, the team carried out concrete remediation on the balcony and surrounding structural elements to restore integrity and prevent further deterioration. The project also involved abrasive blasting and painting to remove old coatings and apply a new protective system suited to the harsh coastal environment. To ensure safe and efficient access throughout the project, scaffolding access systems were erected around the lighthouse structure.
Double Island Point was commenced in April 2014 and completed in September 2014.
