Fraser Island Sandy Cape Lighthouse

The Sandy cape lighthouse work scope included the removal of the dome roof and replacement of the roof sill plate, removal, and replacement of the corroded external stair stringer plate.

Due to the remote and coastal location, the lighthouse was exposed to extreme environmental conditions. To ensure long-term resilience, McElligotts applied specialised coatings and linings tailored for marine environments, offering protection against corrosion and saltwater exposure. In some sections, high pressure water cleaning was used to prepare the surfaces prior to treatment, ensuring optimal adhesion and surface integrity.

Sandy Cape was commenced in September 2014 and completed in February 2015.
