The biggest concrete remediation project completed in the Southern Hemisphere at the time, this project involved repairing 6km of cracks on the floor and a full coat of 3mm thickness intercrete product. With the tank losing 1.2 megalitres per day of water before the remediation works were undertaken, water loss after the repairs was reduced by three quarters.
The project also required high pressure water cleaning to prepare the surface before application, ensuring maximum adhesion and durability of the repair materials. In addition, specialised coatings and linings were used to reinforce the internal surfaces and extend the tank’s lifespan.
