McElligotts have been an integral part of the restoration of this heritage listed access bridge supporting Civil & Earth and Coliban Water’s endeavours to restore and maintain the integrity of this structure which was originally built in 1906. That makes the access bridge 118 years old.
The 50-metre-long access structure was fully sectionally refurbished at our Laverton Yard, inclusive of lead paint removal, inspection, structural steel repairs, protective coating application of a new three-coat paint system, the application of new sealant, and cleaned and restored signage plaques.
Prior to coating, surfaces were prepared using high pressure water cleaning and mechanical methods to ensure proper adhesion and longevity of the new system.
The importance of this project was clearly apparent with the number of specialists that came to visit inclusive of the various client representatives, consulting engineers, heritage consultants and third-party inspectors. The new coating system will continue to protect this heritage listed asset for many years to come.
