Kyneton Bridge
Vic Roads
Painting
$410k
The project involved painting the steel bridge superstructure on the Kyneton – Trentham Road Bridge over the Campaspe River in Kyneton.
The project required the removal of lead paint and, to this end, McElligott’s offered an alternate, as well as conforming tender, to remove the lead paint while the project was scaffolded, contained and environmental monitoring and traffic management systems were in place. The client accepted this non conforming proposal – another example of the flexibility demonstrated by the company.
The job required close liaison with the local water authority due to the amount of water wash required and with traffic authorities given the high vehicle volume using this bridge. A full traffic management plan was prepared, submitted for approval and accepted by the client.
All works were blasted to AS 1627.4 class 2.5, galvanising primer was applied over the blasted surfaces and various top coats, depending on specifications, were then applied.
